On Trend: 5 Popular Jobs

What are the newest, and hottest, popular jobs? Every year we see some jobs thrive while others wither, and 2016 is no exception. When it comes to hot jobs this year, digital continues to rule them all.

Here are five jobs that have continued to grow over the last year and are in demand for 2016.

1. Content Manager

Content Marketer, Content Manager, Content Currator, whatever you call it, content marketing is hot, hot, hot. The primary job responsibilities of this person revolves around creating content for blogs, social media platforms, and digital plublications, in addition to overseeing and curating content for websites and blogs.

Creating this high-quality content requires someone at the wheel to review trends and create ideas for the next "big thing." If a company is large enough, it needs someone to handle digital content so the traditional marketing department isn't overwhelmed.

2. Data Scientist/Analyst

According to Harvard Business Review, the Data Scientist is the sexiest new job of the century.

If your organization stores multiple petabytes of data, if the information most critical to your business resides in forms other than rows and columns of numbers, or if answering your biggest question would involve a “mashup” of several analytical efforts, you’ve got a big data opportunity.

Translation: You need a Data Scientist or a Data Analyst. They deal in numbers, analytics, and in the same way that an archeologist sifts through soil to get to the fossil within, Data Analysts sift through statistical information to understand its significance to a particular field.

3. Social Media Manager

Social Media Managers (or Social Media Specialists) have been in the top of popular job lists for a few years now and it doesn't look like they're going anywhere. More people than ever are heading to their social newsfeeds for new products, the latest news, and so much more. Social media is here to stay and someone needs to be at the helm of your brand's social presence.
